Nehmat Aoun

First Lady of the Lebanese Republic

Her Excellency Nehmat Aoun has served as First Lady of the Republic of Lebanon since January 9, 2025, following the election of her husband, His Excellency General Joseph Aoun, as the 14th President of the Republic. She brings to this role a deep commitment to public service, social engagement, and national unity.

Born and raised in Chiyah, Beirut, she pursued her university education in Lebanon and is fluent in Arabic, French, and English. Before assuming her current responsibilities, she built a distinguished career in protocol and public relations, serving for over two decades as the Head of the Protocol and Public Relations Department at the Lebanese American University.

As First Lady, she has embraced a public role focused on civic engagement and social cohesion. Central to her vision is the promotion of responsible citizenship—encouraging a sense of belonging, duty, and shared responsibility toward Lebanon’s future. She believes that a strong nation is built on the active participation of its people, guided by the values of respect, solidarity, and service to the common good.

In addition to her role as First Lady, she has recently assumed the presidency of the National Commission for Lebanese Women (NCLW), a key public institution dedicated to advocating for women’s rights and gender equality. As she takes on this responsibility, she looks forward to working alongside policymakers, civil society organizations, and international partners to further the Commission’s mission and advance efforts toward greater inclusion and equal opportunities for women in Lebanon.

While deeply engaged in public service, Her Excellency remains devoted to her family. As a wife, mother, and grandmother, she understands the importance of strong social bonds and the role they play in fostering a resilient and compassionate society.

Her Excellency Nehmat Aoun carries out her duties with a firm belief in the potential of the Lebanese people and a strong sense of purpose, striving to contribute to a Lebanon that is more united, inclusive, and prepared to meet the challenges of the future.
